Monument Sign, Case Study: Thunder Valley Casino, Lincoln, CA

THE CHALLENGE:
This project entailed creating a “marker” sign for our client. As an operational sponsor of the Auburn Fairgrounds, Thunder Valley sought to place a sign at the fairgrounds that both promoted the brand of the casino while blending well with the fairground landscaping.

The original design planned by the casino was a simple flat, cut out shape. We felt we could improve on this design so it would more accurately reflect the Thunder Valley brand.

THE PROCESS:
Our graphic design team invested time necessary to redesign the project. We took into consideration that casinos by their very nature are full of color and bright lights. Since their sign was to be placed in the local fairgrounds our goal was to make sure the construction and materials were appropriate for the surroundings while conveying the Thunder Valley brand.

The end result is a dimensional sign fabricated from aluminum and painted with a high quality, exterior grade paint. All of the text and logo graphics are made with custom cut acrylic pieces that give the sign dimension and texture. The base is made with dimensional ‘flutes’ that give the sign added dimension and strength.

THE RESULT:
Our client was pleased with the final result. We produced a high end sign that promotes the branded look of the casino, yet it is executed in a scale and style that blends into the park-like location.
The design, materials and fabrication techniques ensure the Thunder Valley sign will attract attention of people entering and exiting the park for many years to come.
